A house spider bite can trigger a few symptoms, particularly at the bite site. It is important to note that this species includes the domestic along with the common house spider, hobo spider and the giant house spider.

Pain
The house spider bite can trigger pain in a limited area neighboring the wound. It is recommended to use an ice pack to alleviate the pain at the bite site. Remember that the actual bite might not cause any pain or discomfort in most cases.
Swelling
There are instances where there is minimal tissue swelling but this depends on the response of an individual to the house spider bite and if the spider was able to inject venom.
The spider is not likely to inject venom to an individual since it would be biting as an act of defense and not attempting to feed on the human.
Hardening of the tissues
Most cases of house spider bites can lead to the hardening of the tissues on the area surrounding the bite site. The hardening is strikingly similar to a classic bite from a mosquito.
Blisters
In severe cases of bites, the neighboring area can develop blisters within 24-48 hours after sustaining the bite. Remember that these blisters might rupture 24 hours after they developed which leaves behind an open wound.
How healing occurs
The open lesions will start to scab over and steadily heal. There is the distinctive bull’s eye rash that can manifest on the area surrounding the open wound almost 3 weeks after the actual bite. It usually takes 45 days after the bite to see the formation of a scar in place of the scabbed-over ulcer.
Risk for systemic reactions
Full body or systemic reactions to a house spider bite might include the following:
- Intense headache that does not respond to pain medications
- Nausea
- Dry mouth
- Weakness
- Lethargy
- Double vision
- Hallucinations
- Blurred vision
- Joint pain
It is also likely for the individual to notice the symptoms between 1-3 hours after sustaining the spider bite. Other symptoms that can manifest include trouble breathing, chest pain, sweating, rapid heart rate, fever, drop in the blood pressure and increased salivation.
